Programs


H.E.L.P.’s current key programs include:

* GED Preparation Classes: to help community members acquire the skills and certification necessary to obtain better employment and pursue higher education.

* ESL (English as a Second Language):to facilitate the integration of non-English speaking people by helping them learn, speak, and write English proficiently.

* Adult Basic Education (ABE)/ Basic Education in Native Language (BENL):to lower the level of illiteracy in the community and help participants acquire basic skills necessary to meet their socioeconomic needs.

* Computer Training Classes:Courses teach students about PC and MAC hardware and system maintenance procedures. In hands-on exercises, students learn to assign configuration settings, upgrade systems, configure SCSI devices, install printers and monitors, remove and replace components, and troubleshoot POST errors.

* Internet Access: to reduce the digital divide and disseminate computer knowledge in the community. Participants learn how to use the internet, setting up email accounts, and accessing and exchanging information via the internet.

* Youth Development: offering community children the necessary assistance to improve their academic and social skills in a safe and supportive environment. Activities toward these goals include:

* Homework Help and Academic Enhancement
* Recreational and Enrichment Activities
* Basic Literacy and Parenting Workshops for Parents
* Community Services for the Students

The SUCCESS BOUND PROGRAM

Every summer, HELP operates The LEARNING AND FUN SUMMER PROGRAM at PS 269 (1957 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11210).

The BEYOND BOUNDARIES PROGRAM organizes on a regular basis cultural and recreational outings for the participants in our after-school and summer programs in order to “broaden their view of the world.”
